Let’s talk, a little, about what we didn’t get at the end of Mass Effect: Andromeda.
We didn’t get DLCs. One of those DLCs, hinted in the end of the game, was supposed to be about the Quarian ark. We got a distress call, and that was it.
I participate in the Fornax fic exchange on Ao3 and decided light reading wouldn’t hurt my education. Finding this book, though, that was a huge treat. There’s so much culture and worldbuilding and SCIENCE in here! It’s DELIGHTFUL. I’ll have to come back to it; I want to explore these characters again with fresh eyes, knowing the pieces, seeing the snapshots. I want to work the problem backwards.
Valente weaves beautiful characters. Blue-team Sleepwalker characters are magnificent and I love them. Yellow team is SAD. But they’re real people, and reading it, I felt like I was standing there, watching each piece of this story unfold, and I felt what they felt, it was explained so clearly.
Andromeda is a new world for them. And I wish I could be there with them when they arrive. Valente, if you’re reading this? Chef’s kiss. I’ll eagerly cling to the hope of a sequel.
